Hello again bloggettes, Today guess what? We have an outfit post... gasp... I am so impressed with myself... I doubted that I even had the ability to take blog photos, its been that long.
Anyway basically there are four inspirations for todays post, the first three of which is evident from the title of the post... obviously the first one is alice herself. The idea of this girl with such beautiful imagination and the concept of wonderland itself is one that has always fascinated, intrigued and excited me. I really enjoyed the Tim Burton version and if you still haven't seen it... why not?... go and see it in 3D it is simply stunning. I was blown away.
Another alice based inspiration and the most significant one, is Anne Hathaways role as the white queen, however I did feel in the movie her acting was rather too realistic for the abstract style of the film, noone can deny the beauty of her soft white skin against the blood red lips and all with elegant posture and poise... I am incredibly impressed with the picture bellow for Anne Hathaway was someone I had always considered stunning but I could only see this on film. Every time I had seen shoots she had done for magazines I had felt that she struggled to connect with the camera but in this photo she has definitely proved me wrong.
Dreamcatchers have been something Ive had since I was tiny... I have been given them by various relatives for years and obviously santa has been known to put the odd one or two miniture ones into my stocking on a night before christmas, however I really know very little about the culture and history behind these things. To be honest I have rarely hung one in my window as your supposed to they have just been pretty things I have lying around, but I love the idea of them taking your bad dreams from you and to combine that idea with the idea of a dreamt up world really excited me.
I was even more excited when I read on shop it right now about Ann Sofie Blacks dreamcatcher necklace... I like the idea of having a dreamcatcher necklace for Alice because it would protect her from her own dreamt up world... is that not a lovely idea... I think that I definitely need to do some artwork based on this concept and perhaps I could have a go at making my own Alice inspired dreamcatcher necklace though I'm a little unsure of how complex this would be to achieve.
And final... less deep and well thought out inspiration is this young hollywood shoot that appeared in the terrible monstrosaty of a magazine that is Teen Vogue ages ago and is one of the only shoots I have ever felt has 'feeling' or 'inspiration' behind it.
Okay so enough on my inspiration shall we get down to the nitty gritty and start posting some outfit photos.
I love this... I have achieved the dreamy feel (aka blurriness!) by taking the photo by placing my dreamcatcher over the lense of the camera... you can see a little bit of the feathers creeping in on the corner too.
Old ballet pumps, TopShop two tone tights (rip off of the chanel ones which I love), Dress bought at the clothes show (dont ever go, I went with school, it was a waste of time), yes I am only wearing one glove and its a vintage doe skin one and I have no idea where the dreamcatcher is from or who bought it for me etc.
These photos really remind me of my fantasies of wonderland as a child.
Okay well there you go... I am definitley starting to feel like my life revolves around my blog, much to the disgust of my parents who dispise me using the computer and I do this kind of derranged fast typing and cant even turn around incase I loose my train of thought when I am blogging. I know that meens most of it is illiterate but I dont really care... I dont feel the need to strive endlessly for perfection.
So here I am, overly inspired, being creative once again with my jubbly outfit posts.
Tomorrow x

um, I slightly love that dress. I've been looking for a really good lace dress ever since seeing the virgin suicides (have you seen it? If not, do so now! :D). And yeah, alice in wonderland rocks. So much. Still haven't seen the tim burton film yet, which is so frustrating, hopefully I will soon!! xxxx
